For a second time in its history, Wataniya Airways of Kuwait has suspended operations after “unexpected circumstances" which were unavoidable the chairman Ali al Fozan announced yesterday.
It is the second time the airline has halted operations, albetit temporarily, this time the suspension in flying is due to “Three planes going out of service,” which leaves the airline with just one operational aircraft. One of the Airbus A320s it was using needs to have an engine replaced, wet-lease contracts on another two ended, following objections by Kuwait’s civil aviation authority - the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The airline “cannot operate with one plane so we decided to suspend operations temporarily until return of the second plane,” said Al Fozan.
