Iberia and SEPLA reach an agreement on pilot profit share deal

Iberia and SEPLA signed an agreement this week that marks an important development in the current 10th Agreement and that involves extending its validity until 31 December 2027. As a result of the negotiations carried out, the company will be able to better share its profits with employees.

Thanks to this agreement, pilots will receive additional income based not only on economic results, but also when objectives linked to operational excellence are achieved: punctuality, NPS (level of customer satisfaction) and productivity.

According to Marco Sansavini, the president of Iberia, “the agreement with SEPLA is a key piece for building the company's future. Sharing financial and operational successes with people allows us to feed our virtuous circle, which is built on achieving excellent results to be able to invest even more in retaining our talent, in improving customer service and in working toward environmental sustainability.”

Main aspects of the agreement
Some of the key elements in the agreement are:

Extension of the validity of the agreement, which provides stability for the coming years. The 10th Agreement will be in force until 31 December 2027, instead of ending in 2025. The improvements included in the agreement are added to the agreement without the need to modify any of its sections.
Remuneration. A new salary table is added to the current one (which remains as before). This additional table contemplates a consolidated increase linked to the profitability of the airline above 12% and another unconsolidated increase, linked not only to the profitability of the airline, but also to the objectives of excellence in punctuality, NPS, and productivity.
Seniority. Reservation options are improved through a new Special Termination model with greater guarantees.
LEVEL. The number of LEVEL aircraft that will be operated by Iberia pilots is increased from six to eight. The current economic conditions are maintained for those who are going to fly the aircraft of the IAG company.
Conciliation and productivity. Guaranteed submission of schedules fourteen days in advance, which will allow pilots to better organise their personal and family life, without affecting their productivity.
Fleet. The aim was to agree on a framework for growth of the short-haul fleet in Iberia and Iberia Express based on the business opportunities we see in each segment. At the moment it has not been possible to close an agreement with the union representatives of the Iberia Express pilots. This means that growth at Iberia Express is frozen, and that the next four aircraft assigned to the Iberia Group will be integrated into Iberia.

Scope of the agreement

The agreement between Iberia and SEPLA covers the pilot group. The company aims to expand this model of better distribution of profits with all the people who are part of the Iberia Group, as they are the ones who make it possible to achieve excellent financial and operational results.

The company's management is committed to working intensely so that the path that has begun with the pilots can also be opened up to the rest of the Iberia groups. Negotiations will begin with the different social representatives, taking into account the specific needs of each of the businesses, with the aim of reaching beneficial agreements for all those who are part of the company.
