Uber is a just a month away from launching a new kind of service in New York City - the Uber Copter a helicopter service between a lower Manhattan heliport and JFK airport. Apparently, the new service will take just 8 minutes and will include car transfers at either end. The cost of the service will be between $200 - $225 depending on the number of people riding and demand serge price rises.
The Uber Copter service is open to Uber Reward Platinum and Diamond cardholders and will be available to prebook from five days to one hour before the trip. The service will be operated by Heliflite on twin-engine helicopters with two pilots on board.
“We’ve built Uber Copter to provide us with insight and real-world experience as we continue to lay the foundation for Uber Air," Eric Allison, the head of Uber Elevate, told USA Today. The new service will take to the skies next month.
