The US budget airline Spirit has confirmed this week that it will soon serve Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR).
Starting this summer, towards the end of June, the low-cost airline will begin nonstop flights three times daily between Burbank and McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas. The three daily flights will not only offer convenient service between two entertainment hubs, but Las Vegas will act as a gateway to more than two dozen other Spirit destinations across the United States, including Austin, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Baltimore, New Orleans, and Philadelphia. The service will complement Spirit’s existing service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Las Vegas.

“We are excited to be expanding in the Golden State, bringing our low fares and signature service to the Hollywood Burbank Airport,” said John Kirby, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning. “Burbank becomes our second airport destination in the Los Angeles Basin, and enhances our service options for Tinsel Town Guests travelling to America’s Playground.”

“We are very pleased that Spirit Airlines has elected to add Hollywood Burbank Airport to its growing network of cities,” said Frank R. Miller, Executive Director of Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR). “Knowing how popular Las Vegas is, and that Hollywood Burbank Airport is becoming an increasingly attractive Southern California gateway, we welcome Spirit Airlines and its thrice-daily service to Las Vegas for its customers.”
The announcement will add to Spirit’s growing selection of destinations from Las Vegas, a growth city and crew base for the airline. Spirit now averages approximately 55 daily departures from Las Vegas, offering nonstop flights to 28 cities. As of July 2019, Spirit will have grown nearly 50 % in Las Vegas compared to its capacity two years earlier and, in 2018, became the fastest growing carrier there.
Spirit also recently announced it would be launching service in Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, and Indianapolis, as well as expanding service in Jamaica, Denver and Puerto Rico. The airline is focused on investing in the Guest experience and delivering the best value in the sky, including the addition of high-speed Wi-Fi to its entire fleet.
