.Norwegian Air Shuttle has confirmed the sale of five of its new Airbus A320neo aircraft this morning. The company issued a statement that said its subsidiary company, Arctic Aviation Assets has agreed on the sale of five of the aircraft, which are currently out on lease to other airlines, to an unnamed buyer.
The airline expects to deliver the aircraft during the next two months and the transaction is expected to increase the Company's liquidity by $62 million after repayment of debts. The proceeds will be used to repay debt and to increase the Company´s liquidity.
Speculation has been rife in the aviation industry as to who the buyer would be, most believe it is a Chinese owned aircraft leasing firm that also has European offices. However, no names have yet been confirmed.
