Awards, dinners, seasonal additions and A380's to Frankfurt.....just a normal week in the life of Qatar Airways!

Qatar Airways Group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker hosted a VIP dinner and meetings with a number of members of the European Parliament earlier this week at the Presidential Salon at the European Parliament, with impressive views over the city of Brussels.

The aim of this and a series of other meetings Qatar Airways top management had in Brussels to strengthen the already robust relationships that the airline enjoys with key MEPs and to demonstrate Qatar Airways’ commitment to the EU as well as a bit of a thank you. Akbar Al Baker said: “The support extended to our country and airline by top European decision makers is truly valued and appreciated. We come here today in the spirit of pursuing enhanced aviation opportunities for our industries and businesses, more options for travellers, and long-term prosperity for our economies, and I have no doubt we will succeed. We appreciate the openness and understanding demonstrated by the EU. We also thank the EU for the flexibility and support provided to the State of Qatar under the current blockade.”

Also announced this week, the airline continued its winning ways, with being awarded ‘Best Business Class’ and  ‘Best Catering’ in the recent Airline Ratings’ Airline Excellence Awards 2019.

The airline also said this week that from the end of March next year it will add the state-of-the-art Airbus A380 to one of its two daily services from Doha to Frankfurt.  The move will increase the airline’s current daily capacity on the Doha to Frankfurt route by 23%, as well as offer passengers the option to choose from First Class on board the A380 or its patented, award-winning Qsuite Business Class experience offered on the Boeing 777 aircraft, which will serve the route’s second daily flight.

Al Baker, said: “We are thrilled to be able to bring the A380 to our passengers travelling to and from Frankfurt, one of our key gateways into Germany. The addition of this aircraft increases capacity on the route significantly, providing passengers with additional flexibility and greater choice in making travel plans, and is further evidence of Qatar Airways’ on-going commitment to strengthening and expanding our European network. We look forward to welcoming passengers travelling to and from Frankfurt on board.”

Last Sunday that airline announced the return of its recently-launched seasonal routes to Antalya, Bodrum, Mykonos and Málaga, with more flights and upgraded aircraft on two routes from May 2019. The carrier will add an extra weekly flight to the Antalya, Bodrum and Mykonos routes from May 2019, as well as upgrading from the A320 aircraft to the larger A330 on all flights to Antalya, with the more spacious Boeing 777 replacing the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on all Málaga services.
