American Airlines will be making a significant change to its carry on bag policy for those passengers buying its low-cost-carrier type 'Basic Economy Fare' from 5th September this year. From that date, passengers will be able to take both a personal item and a carry-on bag like other Main Cabin fares.
American Airlines says its basic economy fare level is working well as those taking advantage of the low fares designed to compete with no-frills carriers get a great low fare, whilst still experiencing American’s vast network, better product and service. Removing the carry-on bag restriction will make our short-haul Basic Economy fares even more competitive with airlines that include a carry-on bag in their lowest fares.
