A hidden paradise, a hikers heaven are just two ways to describe arguably eastern North America's best ski resort, in summer! Nestled in Québec’s Laurentian Mountains, Mont-Tremblant exudes a wonderful natural beauty that captures the heart and soul from the second you arrive.
It has been called the best ski resort in Eastern North America, which may be true, but there is so much more to Mont-Tremblant than a winter ski destination. In summer the resort takes on a vibrant, exciting beauty that offers so much for the weekend visitor, but I'm sure that at the end of the weekend, you'll want to stay for longer - much longer.
There are numerous hotels offering various deals and pamper packages that can help ease away the stresses of everyday working life. Then, of course, there is the great outdoors which this area is famous for and just begging for you to explore. It truly is a hiker's heaven with so many places to venture and be at one with the wonderful nature that surrounds you. There are 11 main trails that range in distance from 1 km to 11 km so perfect for hikers of all levels. They crisscross Mont Tremblant amidst waterfalls, streams and lakes, open areas and shady parts, yet everywhere a spectacular view awaits your eyes, plus you might even meet a deer or two along the way!
Yet, should you wish for something more, then you'll also find amazing restaurants and utterly charming shops in the pedestrian village which really comes alive at night. Casey's Bar and Grill offers good quality food at a price that won't break the bank, it's a family-friendly place during the day and more loud sports bar at night. The Axe lounge bar at the Fairmont is a sleek and stylish venue that has a rather good selection of beers, drinks and cocktails. Its menu is good and offers some tasty meals to please your tummy and it's not overly expensive, although not cheap either. If you're pushing the boat out, then the popular choice for fine dining is Le Cheval de Jade, one of the best French restaurants you'll find in North America and each course is a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds and tummy. It can get rather busy here and when it does service can be a little slower than expected, but the food is worth the wait so you'll not worry about it. Not as expensive and perhaps more relaxed is the fantastic friendly Creperie Catherine, which serves simply the best crepes ever. Lots of variety and large portions combined with friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere ensure that one visit is just never enough!
Oh, and if you want to have a little flutter, then a visit to the Casino de Mont-Tremblant might be right up your avenue.
It is a popular summer weekend getaway for residents of Toronto, which great as Porter Airlines operate direct season flights from one of the worlds most scenic airports, Billy Bishop Airport.
